The memorial service for Dr. Joyce Ivy Bonenberger-Brough, 51, Dennis Edward Brough, 50, and their son, Trevor Alexander Brough, 11, of Casa Grande will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18 at First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande, with the Rev. Dr. Ben Seller officiating.
The three died in a fire on Dec. 13, 2013, at their home in the Desert Highlands subdivision outside of Casa Grande.
Mr. Brough was born on July 13, 1963, in Newark, Ohio, to Lawrence and Shirley Brough. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University, where he played in the band for OSU basketball games. He was office manager of the surgery practice of his wife and enjoyed British MG sports cars, owned three and frequently attended British car events with his family.
Trevor was born on Dec. 3, 2002, in Casa Grande. He was home-schooled by his parents and was active with Warrior Guild Martial Arts, where he was working toward a Purple Belt. He also had earned several badges in the National Park Service Junior Ranger program. He was a thoughtful, caring young man.
Dr. Bonenberger-Brough was born on Oct. 12, 1962, in Phoenix to Rebecca and Omer Bonenberger. She was a graduate of Cedarville University and The Ohio State University Medical School. Her surgical residency program was through Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and further studies in colon and rectal surgery were done at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. The couple was married in Newark on Nov. 30, 1996, and moved to Casa Grande in 1999 when Dr. Bonenberger-Brough accepted a surgery appointment at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. She became chief of surgery in 2004, a position she held until her death.
Mr. Brough is survived by his parents; a brother, Douglas of Houston; and a sister, Annette Ventura of Clayton, Calif. Dr. Bonenberger-Brough was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Keith. She is survived by her mother and a brother, Todd of Cedarville, Ohio.
