ELOY - Joyce Vaughn Williams, 71, of Eloy, died on Oct. 8, 2017, at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix.
She was born on June 16, 1946, in Crockett, Texas, to Samuel and Maree Vaughn.
Mrs. Williams was a great woman who will be remembered for her dedication to her family and all that she did for them. They will remember her as the strong maternal figure of the Williams family, always listening, giving advice and telling it how it was. She was an accepting woman who had a kind heart. She was hard working and did what it took to take care of her children. She worked at the Waffle House and later at the Toltec Tavern. When she wasn't working, she was watching "her stories" or soap operas. It didn't matter what you wanted to watch, she was watching those stories whether you liked it or not. Those stories, as well as listening to music and scratching lottery tickets were her pastime. She enjoyed the small things in life and never took anything for granted. She was loved by all who knew her and will truly be missed.
Survivors include her husband, Jolly Williams; three sons, William J. Jr., Melvin and Calvin; 12 grandchildren, five of whom she raised as her own, Samuel, TeRoy, Jeremy, Skylette and Shane Williams; 7 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gladys and Alean McKelvey.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Williams; 10 brothers and sisters; and three grandchildren, Julian, Damont and Joslyn Williams.
Visitation Friday at 10 a.m. at the Valley Chapel in Eloy. Funeral begins at 11 a.m. with Pastor Calvin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Eloy Memorial Park. Reception at the Troy Thomas Recreation Center.
