Juan J. Rivas

ELOY - Juan J. Rivas, 48, of Eloy died Aug. 9, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center in Phoenix.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mr. Rivas was born Sept. 18, 1958 in Mexico. He loved animals and his family and was very hardworking and liked helping those in need. He loved to plant things, especially trees and flowers, and hated being sick.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Davis; two sons, Juan Ignacio and Joshua Rivas of Eloy; his parents, Ignacio B. and Margarita Q. Rivas of Eloy; four brothers, Augustine Rivas of Eloy, Oscar Rivas of Tucson, Martin and Manuel Rivas of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico; seven sisters, Maribel Rivas of Colorado, Silvia Rivas of Eloy, Barbara, Socorro, Irma, Maria de los Angeles and Claudia Rivas, all of Chihuahua, Mexico; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jose L. Rivas.
