CASA GRANDE - Juan "Johnny" Tapia Jr., 85, died at home on Aug. 6, 2015.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 11. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 by the Rev. Ariel Lustan. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Tapia was born on Nov. 18, 1929, in Tucson and was a son of Inez and Juan Tapia Sr. He retired from Arizona Water Company as a senior serviceman after 30-plus years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and enjoyed plumbing, woodworking, listening to music, especially Spanish, fishing and hunting. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Frank R. Tapia of Arizona City; three daughters, Jenny Hernandez of San Tan Valley, Patsy Henderson of Odessa, Texas, and Barbara Barron of Casa Grande; two brothers, Manuel Tapia of Laughlin, Nevada, and Enrique Tapia of Phoenix; two sisters, Alice Rios and Rosa Jimenez of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stephanie; two sons, Richard and Jose "Tommy" Tapia; a brother, Tony Tapia; and a sister, Angie Caballero.
