CASA GRANDE - Juan Jose "Johnny" Garza, 74, died on April 24, 2019, after battling Parkinson's disease.
Mr. Garza was born on April 23, 1945, in Pleasanton, Texas, and was a son of Dominga and Jesus Leal Garza. He enjoyed and took pride in researching his family history and genealogy. He spent his retirement seeking the roots of his broad and extensive family tree.
He was a proud descendant of Canary Islanders who founded San Antonio, Texas. These deep Texas roots were celebrated in his love of Tex-Mex music. Born into a close-knit family, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Alexandria Hernandez; a son, Juan Garza II; two stepsons, Adam and Cornelio Hernandez; six siblings, Katie Garza, Estela Lujan, Louis Garza, Guadalupe Garza, Linda Hall and Andrez Garza; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Garza II.
Visitation and service beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
