He was born on February 8, 1937, in Coyote, Coahuila, Mexico, the beloved son of Gabriel Rivera and Mariana Gutierrez. His journey through life was marked by resilience, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for family, which he held dear throughout his years.

As a skilled chef of multiple restaurants throughout Arizona and California, Juan breathed life into the kitchens he commanded. His culinary prowess was celebrated, with highlights such as cooking for the legendary John Wayne and numerus actors. His passion for the culinary arts was not merely a profession; it was a way for him to connect with people, to share love and joy through food. He was running a bustling kitchen and a foreman supervising the field workers, his dedication was unwavering.

Juan was a true "Jack of all Trades," finding satisfaction in learning new skills and pursuing various interests. He delighted in playing pool, a hobby that offered not just recreation but camaraderie and connection with his sons while they won numerous trophies together. He spent his later years enjoying the outdoors, building things with his hands, reading, and dancing, all of which brought him joy and fulfillment.

Though he faced the heartache of loss throughout his life, including the passing of his beloved wife of 69 years, Angelita Nava Rivera, and two cherish children, Juan G. Rivera & Ruben Rivera, as well as his beloved brother Genaro Rivera, Juan G. Rivera remained a steadfast pillar for his family. He is survived by, Gabriel Rivera, Angelita Ramos, Anamaria Garcia, Lidia Chavez, Olga Pena, Frank Rivera, Jesus Rivera, Rosemary Nava, Maria Elena Rivera, Lucia and Lucio Rivera, Lorenza Lara, along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The legacy he leaves behind is not just one of professional accomplishment but also one of profound familial love and devotion.

Friends and family who knew Juan remember him fondly, recounting stories of his generosity, his infectious humor, and his ability to bring people together. He was a man who understood the importance of family, and in every gathering, his spirit shone brightly, reminding all of the love that binds us.

Visitation will be held on September 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Casa Grande - Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, located at 525 N Peart Road, Casa Grande, AZ 85122. A Mass in his honor will take place the following day, September 13, at 9:00 AM at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, located at 201 N Picacho St, Casa Grande, AZ 85122.

Internment followed at Mt View Cemetery After the Mass
