Juanita R. Carlos, of Santa Rosa Village, Tohono O’odham Nation, died on January 10, 2024, at the age of 76. She was born on May 25, 1947, in Santa Rosa, to her parents Buster Wood and Lolisa Frank-Wood.
Juanita enjoyed watching her favorite television shows such The Golden Girls and The Price is Right. She had a deep sense of community and dedicated her time to various projects. Juanita actively volunteered at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was particularly involved with the elders. She was a proud member of the Siñoritas Dance Group and participated in chair volleyball. Above all else, Juanita cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her presence filled gatherings with warmth and love.
Juanita is survived by two sons, Valentino and Darren Carlos, a daughter Antonita Moristo. She is also survived by her siblings Delbert and Evan Wood. In addition to her children and siblings, Juanita leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Bertina Wood and a son Darrell Carlos and her siblings Jose Mark Wood, Alfred Wood Sr., Mary Moristo, and Leslie Wood.
Services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Santa Rosa Village. The visitation will take place from 10 am to 4 pm, followed by burial at Santa Rosa South Cemetery.
