CASA GRANDE - Juanita "Jenny" Bonilla Peru, 85, died on May 13, 2020, following a full and beautiful life.
Mrs. Peru was born on Aug. 19, 1934, to Guadalupe and Aurelio Bonilla and raised in Morenci, where she met Gilbert Peru in high school. Following Gilbert’s service in the Army, they were married and began their family, remaining in Morenci, where Gilbert worked and retired from Phelps Dodge. They were great parents, grandparents and great-grandparents to three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Both the Bonillas and Perus were blessed with large families, which provided for big family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She was especially fond of family camping summers at West Fork of the Black River in the White Mountains, where uncles, aunts, friends and cousins created many memorable times. A childhood memory that stands out most was having her bless each of her children every night when they got in bed. She was a good hugger.
She is survived by sons and daughter Gilbert, Steve and Cindy and their families along with extended family members of the Bonilla and Peru families, who have been so caring. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2012, and she has been laid to rest beside him in Casa Grande. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family was not able to hold a formal funeral service but asks that people remember both their parents.
J. Warren Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.
