Judy Levina Lehman was born on April 1, 1938 in Dove Creek, Colorado, the second daughter of
Joel and Marge Schlosser.
Judy’s family moved to Arizona when she was a young girl, eventually staying in Casa Grande in her teens, where she met the love of her life, Gene Lehman. Gene was out on a job and saw Judy washing windows outside. It was summer in Arizona, and he asked for a glass of water. It all began with that glass of water. Gene and Judy were married on May 29, 1959 and would have celebrated their 59th anniversary this month.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, Judy lost her brief but fierce battle with cancer. Those
left to cherish her loving memories are her husband Gene, daughter Lissa Lehman, sons
Scott and Frank Lehman, sister Joann Johnson, granddaughter Echo Mayo, grandson
Levi Ledezma, and granddaughters Sydney and Taylor Lehman, Brandy Lavoo and seven
great-grandchildren. Judy joins her mother Marge, brother John, daughter Vicki and son
Allen in heaven after they have waited all these many years for her.
Judy’s greatest role was that of Mom and Grandma. This is where she drew her strength
and left her most enduring legacy. Judy was a kind, encouraging and loving mom to her
children and grandchildren. She loved creating a wonderful and comforting home for
Gene and her family. She was a great cook and made a killer lasagna. She had the patience
and perseverance and a love for growing trees, plants and lowers. She gave so much to
her family and asked so little in return.
Judy was an avid reader of mystery and crime novels. And, oh what a library she had.
And Christmas at Gene and Judy’s home was every child’s dream and a holiday she
enjoyed so much. Judy is remembered as the mom that would come out and play softball
with the neighbor kids and she helped start the girls’ softball league in Casa Grande. Judy
worked in the family businesses, Lehman’s Appliance and she’s the Judy of Gene &
Judy’s Video, a popular video store back in the 80’s and 90’s. Gene and Judy were a
remarkable couple and were totally devoted to each other. They were in love to the very
end.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 1100 E. Trinity Place
in Casa Grande on Wednesday, May 31st at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the
church after the service so that you may visit with friends and family.
In remembrance and as a memorial to Judy, please send a thoughtful card or lowers to
someone you care for - she would like that.
