SACATON — Julie Gail Jackson, 54, of Sacaton died on May 31, 2012, at Mercy Gilbert Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the District 3 Service Center. The funeral will be at 6 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton, with Pastor Loretta Blackwater officiating. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson was born on April 13, 1958, in Phoenix. She worked in accounts payable for the Gila River Indian Community, was chief election judge for Gila River District 3 and also District 3 community secretary. She was parade coordinator and a committee member for chicken scratch battle of the bands at the Mul-Chu-Tha tribal fair. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a Girl Scout leader and involved in many other activities. Her hobby was taking care of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Tyler Escalante Sr.; two sons, Taylor and Brent Escalante of Sacaton; two stepsons, Keith Escalante of Soboba, Calif., and Uriah Miguel of Tucson; a stepdaughter, Leah Miguel of Tucson; two brothers, Byron Jackson of Sacaton and Byram Jackson of Blackwater; two sisters, Danielle Jackson and Gina Enos of Sacaton; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Jackson Sr. and Mildred Breckenridge; a stepson, Tyler Escalante Jr.; a son, Emery Jackson Sr.; a grandson, Jaime Escalante; three brothers; and two sisters.
