Justin Leon Silas, age 39, of Sacaton, Arizona, passed away on October 22, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1985, in Shiprock, New Mexico, to Herbie Silas Sr. and Lorna Johns.
Justin had a profound appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping, hiking, and taking trips to lakes and mountains. His interests extended to travel, rafting, and exploring new sights. An avid admirer of the arts and Asian culture, he cherished moments spent watching television shows including *Star Trek*, *Dragon Ball Z*, and *Pokémon*. Justin had a passion for cinema, with *Major Payne* being one of his favorite films.
He was well-known for his distinctive collection of flannel shirts and had a talent for creating memorable meals, particularly his famous spaghetti and onions. Justin also sparked joy with his fireworks displays. In his youth, he enjoyed playing *Metal Gear 1 & 2* alongside his older brother and collecting Pokémon cards. Family outings to Peter Piper Pizza were special occasions that he cherished, as he valued quality time with loved ones. A festive spirit, Justin adored Halloween and often delighted others with his striking costumes and captivating stories. Justin Leon Silas will be fondly remembered for his joy for life, love for family, and the indelible mark he left on those around him.
Justin is survived by his beloved mother, Lorna Johns, and his siblings: Herbie Silas Jr., Shalmarie Silas, Josh Hilton, Alexandra Nelson, Travis Thomas Jr., Pandonlyn Thomas, and Travis Thomas III.
He is preceded in death by his father, Herbie Silas Sr.; his maternal grandfather, Elwyn Johns Sr.; and his paternal grandparents, Herbert Silas Sr. and Florence Silas.
A wake in honor of Justin will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 6 PM at the District 3 Service Center, followed by graveside services on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 7 AM at Sacaton East Cemetery.
