Katherine P. Smith, 88, of Sacaton died on Dec. 25, 2010, at The Caring House in Sacaton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 8 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born on Sept. 29, 1922, in San Miguel and was a daughter of Juan Pablo and Louise Ramon. She was a cook, seamstress and 4-H leader and made horsehair baskets. She was a member of St. Anthony Mission and served in the homebound ministry. She also was a member of a Kateri Tekakwitha group and traveled all over the country to attend conferences.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Narcho of Tucson, Phyllis Thompson, Gail Coochyouma and Ellen Mae Allison, all of Sacaton, and Betty Whitman of Upper Santan; a sister, Agnes Enis of Tucson; 28 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Jr.; a daughter, Eula J. Smith; and a son, Edwin B. Smith.
