Khodabandeh "David" Abadi, 69, of Casa Grande died Oct. 25, 2008 after a fierce but short battle with lung disease.
The memorial service and celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel.
Mr. Abadi was born in Iran. He moved to the United States in 1964 and settled in New York City. He earned an advanced degree from City College of New York and established Alpha International Co., conducting bulk chemical commerce. In 1982 he moved his family to Tucson, where he ran a chemical manufacturing plant. He received patents for his inventions and became an active participant in the community.
He provided service through Rotary, Salvation Army and various other organizations and was energized with endeavors that helped people less fortunate and that had a direct positive impact on people. He pursued this passion in obtaining a master's degree in counseling and becoming a family therapist and children's advocate in underserved areas of Arizona. He touched the lives of many and considered it a privilege to help others.
He is survived by a daughter, Firouzeh Dittmar of Maricopa, and two granddaughters.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association.
