It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, Larry Joe Espinoza. Larry passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on July 6, 2024, after a diagnosis of cancer. Born on March 17, 1951, in Florence, Arizona to John and Mary Espinoza. He was one of seven children.
After attending schools in Coolidge and Miami, Arizona, Larry enlisted in the U. S Marine Corps in May of 1969 and bravely served as a Lance Corporal during the Vietnam War until 1971. Larry worked various positions with the State of Arizona and retired from the U.S. government in 2011. He was a valued and respected member of the Disabled American Veterans, Pinal County Chapter 36.
Larry's love story began when he was reunited with a hometown friend, Yolanda Ayala, while working in Phoenix. Their marriage led them to Globe, Arizona, where they welcomed their first son before eventually returning to Coolidge where they added two more children to their loving family. Larry shared more than five decades of marriage with his beloved wife Yolanda.
A man of many interests, Larry delighted in recounting the stories from his youth, collecting rocks and meteorites as a hobby geologist, and entertaining others with his great sense of humor and array of jokes. He had a love for joyous celebrations and music that he shared with those around him. He was a proud descendent of Arizona pioneers and dedicated many hours to family genealogy research that he selflessly shared with the purpose of connecting family with one another.
Above all else, Larry cherished his role as a father. His children and grandchildren were made to feel like the center of the universe when in his presence. He was a coach and mentor to not only his own children but also extended this care to his grandchildren, family, and community. His unwavering support shone through as he attended every sports game and celebrated every achievement with them. Described as a beacon guiding his family through life's adventures, Larry instilled values of resilience and calmness in his loved ones.
His legacy lives on through the love he shared and the memories he created. Rest in peace, Larry Joe Espinoza.
Larry is survived by his wife, Yolanda, sons, Larry Barron Espinoza, Varion Geraldo Espinoza, daughter, Briana Cabello, and 8 grandchildren, brothers John and Ben Espinoza of Coolidge, and sister Irene Schell of Valley Farms.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Margie Dugan and brothers, Eddie Espinoza and Pedro Reyes.
