Larry Marlin Hartse

July 13, 1941 — April 2, 2020

ARIZONA CITY - Larry Marlin Hartse Jr., 78, of Arizona City died on April 2, 2020.

Mr. Hartse was a son of June and Larry M. Hartse Sr. He was an outstanding athlete and lettered in football, hockey and track. He was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where he played in two Rose Bowls and was part of a national championship team in 1960.

He was an educator for 30 years in the Minneapolis public school system and coached football, hockey and track. He was an avid golfer and retired to Arizona, where he fulfilled his dream of owning a home on a golf course. He enjoyed his daily rides with his dog and touched the hearts of many.

Preceded in death by his sister Beverly Hagen and brother Dale Hartse, he is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia "Ginger"; three sons, Duane of Iowa, Curtis and Wade of South Dakota; a sister and two brothers, Pat Schwalbach, Eugene and Glenn Hartse of Minnesota; four grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
