Lauren Philip Freyermuth, 93, of Casa Grande died on Jan. 13, 2013, at Hospice Family Care.
The celebration of life will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. Inurnment will be later in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
Mr. Freyermuth was born on April 29, 1919, in Muscatine, Iowa, and was a son of Philip Freyermuth and Alma Satterhwaite. He was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity at Iowa State University and served as a Navy lieutenant in World War II, commanding a submarine chaser in the South Pacific and Aleutian Island area. The 121-foot-long wood boat was used to rescue Navy personnel from a Japanese-held island.
He later was an insurance salesman and also an auctioneer. He was a charter member of Iowa Great River Bend Ducks Unlimited and a member of the United Methodist Church in Wilton, Iowa. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, taxidermy, woodworking, dog grooming, cooking and canning food.
Survivors include his wife, Annette I.; a son, Dennis P. Freyermuth of Casa Grande; a daughter, DianeFae Rubio of Casa Grande; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Dale Freyermuth, and a sister, Marion Jaynes.
