Lawrence Batopsis,

AK-CHIN - Lawrence Batopis Sr., 57, died May 19, 2007.

The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Rodriguez home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Mission in Ak-Chin. Burial will be in Ak-Chin Cemetery.

Mr. Batopis was born Sept. 7, 1949 in Gilbert. He was a farm laborer and enjoyed playing baseball.

Survivors include his companion, Diane Rodriguez; two daughters, Melinda Velasquez and Mary Ortega of Ak-Chin; a son, Lawrence Batopis Jr. of Ak-Chin; a sister, Mary Batopis of Ak-Chin; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Batopis.
