Lawrence Casey

Arizona City

Lawrence “Larry” L. Casey passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, in Arizona City, Arizona.

Born on April 5, 1937, in the Bronx, New York, his formative years were spent in the greater New York and New Jersey area. In 1954, Larry joined the United States Air Force, serving proudly over the next 20 years as a corpsman, with tours in Europe and Vietnam, and ultimately obtaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. Following his time in the USAF, Larry found success in various entrepreneurial pursuits and could be easily identified on the roads of San Diego in his bright red Toyota pickup, the license plate “PotMan” pointing to his most significant success marketing high end cookware.

While stationed in Indiana, he met and married Shirley Ann Peek in 1957. They spent the next 49 years together, traveling the world and welcoming five children before her passing in 2006. Later, he found love again with Doris Ingraham, marrying in 2010.

Larry will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was always quick to provide advice, lend a hand, or engage in a healthy debate. His grandchildren will forever cherish time spent with him-especially in the evenings when he would share a “finger dip” of his favorite digestif, crème de menthe, on the rocks while watching his favorite shows.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Casey; daughters Pamela (Lawrence) Dwyer, Kathy Allen, and Lisa Casey; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister Katherine Gahwyler; and brother Mark (Joan) Papendick Sr. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Casey, sons Robert Joseph and Lawrence Casey Jr, and brother Frank Casey.

A celebration of life and interment will occur on September 20, 2024, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1:30pm.
