Our beloved father Lawrence Antonio Makil passed away peacefully in Chandler, AZ on April 08, 2024 at the age of 48. He was born to the late Philbert Makil, Sr., and Kimberly Lewis on May 23, 1975. 

He graduated from Casa Grande High School in 1994.  In 1995 started his work career with Gila River Indian Community at the Procurement Department formerly known as Property & Supply.  He started as the Mail clerk, worked his way to a Purchasing Agent, then to the Assistant Procurement Director, and became the Procurement Director.   He has worked for the Community for 29 years.  

Lawrence enjoyed life to the fullest, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and loved ones.   He was one to take long drives with his family and see where the road leads them. He loved to listen and dance to Waila music.  Or just being at home watching his favorite TV shows/sports.  U of A wildcats was his favorite college team “Go Wildcats….Bear Down”.   He was also the type of person that would help anyone anyway he could.      A man with a “BIG” loving heart. 

He leaves behind his four children Gabriel & Brynlee Makil, Jordan & Madalynn Calabaza of Hashan Kehk, AZ.         

Grand Children: Lauren Rae Williams, Camila Calabaza, Craig Antone, Jr., and Carmenita Antone.                                                                                            God Children Craig Antone, Sr. and Mary Mae Pablo.   

He is survived by his siblings: Rudy Valenzuela, Jr., Philbert, Jr., Anna, Lorenzo, and Carrie, Angelina Makil, Palmer & Paulita Lomakema, Mother Kimberly Lewis, 26 nieces/nephews, his Fiancée Merlena Calabaza and Mother-in-Law Janet Enos.   

He was preceded in death by his father Philbert Makil, Sr., Father-in-Law Albert Calabaza & Grandparents Augustine Makil, Delphine Patrick, David A. Johnson, Jr., Shirley Thomas, and Richard Thomas.

The wake services will be held on Monday April 22, 2024 from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. at the District #2 Multi-purpose Building Hashan Kehk, AZ. 

 Funeral will be held on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at St. Peter Church in Casa Blanca, AZ at 8:00 a.m. 

Burial at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Cemetery in Hashan Kehk, AZ  All friends and family are welcome.
