Leander Sylvester Michael Nathan, 75, of Sacaton Flats, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on January 23, 2025. He was the son of Dewitt and Ursula Nathan.
Leander, also known as “Lee”, was a loving and wonderful friendly man, who was loved by many people. He worked for Gila River Farms for many years and the went to work for the G.R.I.C-District Two Service Center for 30 years, where he retired. He attended Stewart Indian School (High School), where he played football for a couple of years. His favorite shows were football, wrestling and western movies. Leander enjoyed listening to country music, chicken scratch, and Gospel music. Cooking was one of his favorite things he loved to do when he could and would share with his siblings, “buff”, his favorite food. For the past five years he was Santa to the grandchildren and great grandchildren, all under the age of 15.
He is survived by 7 siblings, 3 nephews, 2 nieces and many other loved ones.
The children will miss him dearly along with the rest of us. We will always treasure the loving memories that each and everyone of us have of him.
“Love you always and fly with the angels” until we meet again.
