Leland R Sundberg

Leland R. "Lee" Sundberg, 75, of Casa Grande died on Aug. 22, 2015, at home.

Mr. Sundberg was born on Oct. 3, 1939, in Butte, Montana, and was a son of Calvin and Mabel Sundberg. He graduated from Billings Senior High School and served in the Marine Corps, where he received honors for his marksmanship. He later received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education at Eastern Montana College (now Montana State University Billings). He was a longtime educator in Butte, teaching special education and later serving as an administrator. He touched many lives.

He was a true Montana outdoorsman and an excellent fly fisherman after learning the skill from his dad. He also was an avid hunter. He and his family spent many summers at their cabins on Stillwater River and later at Georgetown Lake. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande and was a past exalted ruler in Elks. He enjoyed reading, golf and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Geri L.; a daughter, Shelley Candias of Tustin, California; a son, Steve Sundberg of Wyoming; a stepson, Andy Anderson of Phoenix; a sister, Debbie Hudson; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Yvonne (Ferris).

The funeral was to be in Butte.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rockies in Butte.
