Lenard Paul Walker, age 91, passed away on Nov. 10, 2024, and was the first child of Martha Mildred and Paul Raymond Walker born on Jan. 3, 1933 in their home near Pierce, CO. Later he was joined with two brothers - Kenneth Dewayne born on Dec. 9, 1937 and Harry Elmer born Nov. 6, 1939. After graduating from Pierce High School, Lenard served in the Air Force where he spent from 1953 to 1957 at Parks Air Force Base in CA, Fort Lenardwood in MO, Davis Monthon in AZ, Okinawa for 20 months, and attained a rank of Airman 1st Class (3 stripes).
After his honorable discharge, Lenard established AZ as his lifetime home and began his career as a big equipment operating engineer plus a dedicated team roper at rodeos across the country. He was a loyal member of the American Legion in Casa Grande, AZ and a proud member of the Local 428 International Union of Operating Engineers. The highlights in his life were the fame of his trophy-winning favorite horse, Scooter, and when he was honored to be inducted into the Senior Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2007. After retirement from work and rodeos, Lenard took pride in his fruit trees and flower gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Mildred Walker. Surviving him are: his wife, Barbara (daughter Lona, spouse and 3 grandchildren); Kenneth (wife Judy and 3 children - Vicki, Russ, and Debra plus spouses and 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren); Harry (wife Dianna and 3 children - Zachary, Zane and Zehren plus spouses and 8 grandchildren).
Lenard’s final resting place will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of Phoenix, Arizona.
