FLORENCE — Leo Matthew Cruz, 50, of Tohono O’odham Florence Village died on April 18, 2011, in Mesa.
The wake will begin at 6 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Mission, with Mass celebrated at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Cruz was born on March 17, 1961, in Sacaton. He was a groundskeeper for the Florence Unified School District for many years. He enjoyed sports and was an Arizona Wildcats fan. He played baseball when he was younger and enjoyed animals. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and listening to music.
Survivors include his parents, Raymond and Margaret Cruz of Florence; five sisters, Janice and Glenda Cruz of Florence, Olivia Cruz of Sacaton, Sara Morendo of Arizona City and Cheryl Morendo of Eloy; three brothers, Christopher Cruz of Sacaton, Dennis Cruz of Florence and Albert Cruz Sr. of Topawa; two daughters, Mikaela Valdez of Bisbee and Rosela Nathan of Sacaton Flats; and a son, Alex Valdez of Bisbee.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
