CASA GRANDE - Leo James "Jim" Fernan, 72, of Casa Grande died peacefully on July 18, 2016.
Mr. Fernan was born on May 20, 1944, in Syracuse, New York, to Francis and Theresa (Gorman) Fernan. He grew up in Binghamton, New York, and attended St. Paul’s High School, graduating in 1962. He served in the Army, worked briefly for IBM and joined the New York State Police in 1967. The next year he joined the U.S. Border Patrol and served at various duty stations in the U.S. and Canada until retiring in 2000.
He was a railroad enthusiast. His family had a combined employment history of over 100 years with the Erie Lackawanna Railway.
Survivors include his wife, Linda M., and two sons, Sean M. Fernan of Casa Grande and Ryan James Fernan of Kirkland, Washington. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis A. and Michael Fernan.
