Leola Garcia, 59, died on Nov. 24, 2017, at home in Santan.

Ms. Garcia was born on Jan. 21, 1958, in Sacaton and was a daughter of Max Garcia and Irene Hendricks Garcia. She grew up in Casa Blanca and attended Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California. She went on to attend college at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas.

She loved to make quilts and baby blankets for others and really enjoyed helping people. She worked at a dental office for many years and gained many friends who remember her constant reminders to care for themselves, her contagious laugh and her vibrant smile.

She is survived by a daughter, Nicole White; a son, Snyder Lee White Sr.; two stepsons, Raymond and Rodrick French; two sisters, Natalie Baca and Sandra Myers; and many grandchildren she gained over the years who called her Grandma Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Luna; and a brother, Vernon Miguel.

Wake beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, at the District 5 Service Center. Funeral Mass celebrated at 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Bapchule.
