SACATON - Leonard Rey "Lenny" Harrison, 71, of Sacaton died on Nov. 18, 2014, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Harrison home in Sacaton. The graveside service will be early Sunday in Snaketown Cemetery.
Mr. Harrison was born on Oct. 18, 1943, in Gilbert and was a son of Lyman C. and Anna Harrison. He was an archaeologist and a strong-willed man of character who was always working to keep his cultural traditions (Himdag) alive. He stood for his beliefs and was the one all his family and friends stood behind.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryle; four daughters, Carmen Lozano of Needles, California, Lisa Billa of Anaheim, California, Nina and Chalina Harrison of Sacaton; five sons, Anthony Harrison and Charlie Gonzalez Sr. of Mohave Valley, Francisco Harrison of Phoenix, Leon and Lorenzo Harrison of Sacaton; a brother, Nacho Harrison of Sacaton; 41 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Consuelo Harrison; a sister, Stella Lyons; and four brothers, Bennett, Eddie, Clement and Elemer Harrison.
