CASA GRANDE - Lillian Peart Hoover, 89, died on March 1, 2020, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hoover was born on Sept. 9, 1930, in Los Banos, California. She moved to Monterey, California, in the early 1940s and graduated from Monterey High School in 1949. She went on to attend San Jose State College and graduated with a degree in occupational therapy. She enlisted in the Navy in 1952, met her future husband, Don, and rose to the rank of commander. After retiring in 1977, she and Don moved to Florida. They spent many happy years traveling in their RV.
In 1980, they purchased a home in Casa Grande as a winter residence. Her grandparents were some of the earliest settlers in Casa Grande. After Don’s death in 2001, she continued RVing in a 40-foot motor home, traveling to numerous rallies, family events and class reunions. She was very active in the Family Motor Coach Association, Arizona Chapter. In 2018, she finally retired from RVing.
She was a member of the Frustrated Maestros for many years. For the past 30 years she was very active in the Central Arizona College Community Band, which gave her the greatest pleasure. Her last concert performance was in November 2019. She strongly supported many charities in Casa Grande and was well known for making friends with everyone she met.
She is survived by Linda Toussaint; a stepson, Donald Hoover Jr.; and many cousins.
Celebration of life and reception at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Valley Humane Society.
