Born in Sacaton, AZ, the daughter of Edison James and Christine Nish. She was a Head Start teacher for the Gila River Indian Community from 1975 to 1984. She was an occupational therapy visitor for the Tribal SERvices Home Program from '85 to '95. She worked for the Child Care Services Program from '95 to 2002. She was also the District 2 Service Center coordinator for two years. She was an active member of Hashan Kehk Elderly Group and served as secretary and member of the Food Committee. She served two years as an elder for the Sacaton Flats Chapel and two terms as Christian education chair for the Elders and Deacons Association. Her hobbies included bowling, shopping, riding her scooter and working on her computer.
