Lindy Moraga

FLORENCE — Lindolfo “Lindy” Moraga, 79, a Florence native, died on June 17, 2011.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will follow at the home of Barbara Moraga on Cactus Forest Road.
Mr. Moraga was born on March 27, 1932, to Carlos T. Moraga and Margarita Rangel. He graduated from Florence High School and spent three years in the Navy. He married Linette E. Case of San Diego in 1954 and had three children. He and his family lived in the Sunnyvale and San Jose, Calif., area for several years and his employers included Ford Motor Company and Lockheed Corporation. He eventually worked overseas for Brown & Root construction company and during that time opened his first restaurant and bar in Vietnam.
He returned to Florence in 1979 after a 29-year absence. He and his new wife, Margaret Feliz, also from Florence, purchased the Oak Tavern on North Main Street and renamed it Lindy’s Cocktail Lounge. He also worked for the Arizona Department of Corrections before retiring in 1994. Soon after that he moved to Los Altos, Calif., where he married Dorothy Cascinai. They traveled the country in their motor home and spent time at their home in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter, Richard S. “Rick” Moraga, Gina L. Moraga McVicker and Ronald S. “Ron” Moraga; four brothers, Rudolpho, Eligio, Charles and Jimmy; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Juaquin Moraga.
