Lionel Salazar

FLORENCE — Lionel R. “Toro” Salazar, 69, a Florence native and resident, died on July 19, 2011, in Mesa.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Salazar was born on July 22, 1941, and was a son of Pete and Cuca Salazar. He worked in maintenance for the Arizona Department of Transportation and Pinal County. He had a “green thumb” and enjoyed working outdoors and planting things.
Survivors include two daughters, Amber Harris of Cottonwood and Marla Salazar of Florence; a son, Andrew Salazar of Casa Grande; six sisters, his twin, Lionilda Salazar, Gloria Ortiz, Eleanor Garcia, Evangelina Salazar, Sally Valenzuela and Nellie Lewis, all of Florence; a brother, Arnold Salazar of Queen Valley; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Andy Salazar.
