SANTAN — Lisa L. Abril Burnette Ortega, 45, of Santan died on July 7, 2013.
The wake will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 6 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Snaketown Cemetery.
Ms. Ortega was born on March 31, 1968, in Phoenix. She was very athletic and played varsity softball all four years of high school. She also played basketball and was a cheerleader at Nellis AFB in Nevada. She was a good bowler and won many awards.
She was a driver for tribal government. She enjoyed playing cards and was an Arizona State and Cardinals fan. She was very generous and enjoyed helping others. Her favorite saying was: “You’re killing me smalls.”
Survivors include her companion, Areron Howard Sr.; three daughters, Elise Garcia of Santan, Jourdan Ortega of Glendale and Pauline Howard of Santan; three sons, Gilbert Ortega, Thomas and Areron Howard Jr., all of Santan; her mother, Pauline Garcia of Santan; a brother, David Lovato of Tuba City; a sister, Rita Burnette of Santan; her grandmother Rita Sabori Burnette of Sun Lakes; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Burnette, and a brother, Anthony A. Garcia.
