ARIZONA CITY - Lola "Faye" Rivers of Holtville, Calif., died May 29, 2007 in Arizona City, one day before her 83rd birthday.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, Calif., with Pastor Jeff Hudelson of First Christian Church officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Moose Lodge.

Mrs. Rivers was born May 30, 1924 in Holtville and spent all her life there. She was a daughter of Jess and Bertha Cardwell. In 1941 when she was 16, she married Gerald Rivers in Yuma. She enjoyed playing tennis, softball and volunteering with the Holtville Little League, including serving as president. Whether she was camping, traveling, fishing or dancing, she enjoyed life to the fullest and always liked being surrounded by family and friends.

She played an integral role in the family business, Rivers & Sons Trucking. She was a strong and outgoing woman who was candid, friendly, generous and the life of the party.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; a sister, Ruby Chapell; a brother, Gilbert; and a grandson, Chris Castillo. Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Sevick of Arizona City; three sons, Jerry of Cave Creek, Jimmy of Frazier Park, Calif., and Roy of Holtville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
