SACATON — Lopez Ray "Strong Wind" Mix, 25, of Sacaton died on March 31, 2013, at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Sacaton First Presbyterian Church. The graveside service will be at 4 a.m. Monday in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mr. Mix was born on Feb. 14, 1988, in Phoenix. He was a wildland firefighter with Golden Eagle Hotshots in Sylvan, Calif. He also worked for Gila River Fire on the brush crew and really enjoyed his job. He liked lowrider cars and was an artist who specialized in traditional Native American items. He enjoyed learning and participating in traditional Akimel O'odham ways.
Survivors include a daughter, Rayonnah Mix of Sacaton; his mother and stepfather, Lavena Davis Blaine and Andy Blaine of Sacaton; and four sisters, Francine Jones-Ramon of Santan, Prendy and Ronnah Mix and Taylor Blaine, all of Sacaton. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald P. Mix.
