Lorana Mineer

d. October 3, 2012

Lorana Fish Mineer, 88, of Phoenix died on Oct. 3, 2012, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lakeside Cemetery, Pinetop-Lakeside. A luncheon and tribute will follow.
Mrs. Mineer was born on Nov. 12, 1923, in San Pedro, Calif., and was a daughter of Lorana Rogers and John E. Fish. She attended school in Arizona and Utah. She was valedictorian of her eighth-grade and high school classes and was awarded a scholarship to University of Utah. She worked in Salt Lake City and Richfield, Utah, and met and married Ted Mineer. They were busy in several family-owned businesses in Richfield. She later was a court reporter and, after moving to Arizona, was a semiconductor sales associate for General Electric Company for nearly 30 years.
Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held various church callings. However, genealogy was her life's pursuit and passion. She worked untiringly to assemble records of her family and accumulated data on more than 15,000 people. She was devoted to her family and also had a caring attitude toward others. She was very helpful to people. She worked on election boards in Pinal and Maricopa counties for many years. Besides her family, two of her greatest enjoyments were travel and tennis. In the 1970s she learned to ride a motorcycle and in the '90s she decided to learn Spanish.
Survivors include a son, Roger Mineer of Casa Grande; a brother, Ardith Fish of Elko, Nev.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, two brothers and a grandson.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
