GILBERT - Pastor Louis Geye Hulsey, 73, died on Nov. 1, 2017, in Gilbert.
Pastor Hulsey was born on Nov. 12, 1943, to Veirl and Olivia Hulsey in Bisbee. H.W. and Daisy Pugh were his grandparents. He was a father of six and an active pastor for almost 50 years and board member for the Church of God. He served in the Air Force and spoke fluent in Spanish, Turkish and five other languages. He played the trumpet, piano, bass and composed numerous musical pieces.
He was an evangelist teacher and raised funds for numerous underprivileged youths each year to go to summer camp. He funded numerous kids crusades and spent most of his time visiting the sick and helping the poor. He was very friendly and spent many nights and days on his knees for others. He established numerous churches throughout Sonora, Mexico, and the Southwest. He enjoyed camping and four-wheeling with his family in his rare spare time.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi; six daughters and sons, Ramona Bailey of Surprise, Louis Hulsey II of Moody, Texas, Charis Miller of San Tan Valley, Victor Hulsey of Troy, Texas, Loren Vincent Hulsey and Joshua Hulsey of Gilbert; six siblings, Maria Rainwater of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Pam Felkins of Tempe, A.W. Welch of Cleveland, Tennessee, Elderine Wyrick of Cedar Hill, Texas, Rene Stone of Duncanville, Texas, and Paul Henry Welch of Waxahachie, Texas; and 25 grandchildren.
Visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, with celebration of life at 11, at Parkway Community Church in Phoenix. Burial in Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.
