Louis T. Blackwater

February 22, 1931 — February 15, 2017

SACATON - Louis T. Blackwater, 85, of Coolidge passed away on Feb. 15, 2017. He was born on Feb. 22, 1931, in Sacaton to Vincent and Josephine Blackwater.

Mr. Blackwater was a wonderful man who will be remembered for many things. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran who served during the Korean conflict. He took great pride in service. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated 51 years of sobriety. He was a member of English and O’odham choirs.

He enjoyed wood chopping, reading, landscaping and traveling. He will forever be remembered as Blackwater’s oldest University of Arizona fan. He will truly be missed.

Survivors include four children, Beverly, Caroline and Wayne Blackwater and Connie Valenzuela; four sisters, Oreen Johns, Louella Mitchum, Idella Poocha and Mary Alice Blackwater; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Everette, Harriet and Geneva Blackwater; and two grandsons, Jared Esquibel and Kyle Valenzuela.

Visitation from 6 p.m. until midnight Friday, Feb. 24, at the District 1 Service Center in Blackwater. Graveside service Saturday at 7 a.m. at the West Blackwater Cemetery.

J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole and Maud, The Gardens Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
