CASA GRANDE - Lucy Valenzuela, 75, of Casa Grande died on Oct. 29, 2015, at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, with her family by her side.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mrs. Valenzuela was born on July 1, 1940, in Arlington, Arizona, and was a daughter of Juan Hernandez and Isabel Alcorta. She began a professional career at the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge in 1971 in direct client care and was interim superintendent before retiring in 2003.
She was active in several community organizations, most recently Community Action Human Resources Agency, Pinal and Gila County’s Human Rights Community for the Department of Economic Security, Early intervention Infant and Toddler Program and Santa Cruz Valley Food Bank in Eloy. She was known for her kind, loving and generous nature and lived her life in service to her community, family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Juan M.; two daughters, Mitzi Doss of Mesa and Nancy Haas of Huntington Beach, California; two brothers, Jose Hernandez of Tucson and Daniel Hernandez of Casa Grande; four sisters, Lupe Arebalo of San Diego, Cathy Harper of Scottsdale, Isabel Livingston of Missouri and Patricia Torack of Texas; and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by a brother, Abraham Hernandez.
