Luis Lauro Ramos, 62, of Casa Grande died June 8, 2007 at home.

A family gathering will begin at 5 p.m. Monday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The memorial service will follow at 5:30, with Pastor Roy Edwards officiating.

Mr. Ramos was born Aug. 15, 1944 in Mexico to Ventura and Angelita Ramos. He immigrated to the United States from Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in 1955 with his mother, brothers and sister and soon moved to Arizona. He was a rodeo bull rider and met his future wife, Shirley Johnson. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He qualified as a sharpshooter and was honorably discharged in 1967.

He married Shirley and started a family, living in Casa Grande. He worked for the Ak-Chin Indian Community for more than 30 years and became a supervisor. He was recognized for his service with a retirement dinner and awards. He then started a business, Southwestern Concrete, in 2001. He loved to spend hours playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchild and telling them stories. He was generous to people and worked hard to provide for his family and always had candy or a dollar or two for his grandchildren. He enjoyed a good party and loved to watch boxing.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Tim Ramos of Flint, Mich., and Michael Ramos of Casa Grande; two daughters, Laurie Ramos Surprenant of Chandler and Amy Ramos Bayness of Casa Grande; three brothers, Ventura and Sergio Ramos and Lupe Castillo; two sisters, Amanda Duran and Angie Faust; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Horacio and Felipe Ramos.
