Manuel Baray Hernandez, 84, of Casa Grande died on Feb. 11, 2011, at Hospice Family Care.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Hernandez was born on May 29, 1926, in Lompoc, Calif., and was a son of Ramon and Manuela Hernandez. He served in the Air Force and retired after 20 years. He was a shop foreman. He participated in atomic weapons testing in the South Pacific in 1954, 1956 and 1958. He was stationed on Eniwetok Island, and some of the tests were within 14 miles of his duty station. He lived in New Mexico before moving to Arizona.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Meier of Eugene, Ore., Ramona Robenalt of Lima, Ohio, Karen Glicco and Sylvia May of Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Menchaca Hernandez.
