AK-CHIN - Marcella Ann Lewis, 60, died peacefully on June 13, 2016, at home.
Ms. Lewis was born on June 8, 1956, in Sacaton to Lawrence Lewis and Gladys Narcia. Sometimes known as Ox-Auntie, she was a bartender and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and listening to music. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and volleyball with her team, The Mighty Turtels.
She had a heart for children, whom she spoke to about life, education and respect as well as teaching them the O’odham language. Due to her dedication to the kids of the community, she was nominated by United Way to be eligible to open a child care center in her home.
Survivors include three daughters, Anyssa R. Justin, Aleena J. Antone and Adrianna S. Narcia, all of Ak-Chin, and two sisters and a brother, Jeanette Sanders, Lino L. Valles Jr. and Rosalie T. Narcia, all of Ak-Chin. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Mission. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 5 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Augustine Lieb. Burial will be in Ak-Chin Cemetery.
