SAN TAN VALLEY— Marcella Freeman Wark, 89, of San Tan Valley died on Jan. 16, 2013, in Gilbert.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Prebyterian Church in Florence, with the Rev. John Johnson officiating.
Mrs. Wark was born on April 24, 1923, in Florence, a daughter of Herbert H. and Bertha I. Freeman and a direct descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims. She was a business teacher at Florence High School for five years before marrying John W. Wark and moving to California.
She loved genealogy and worked on the National Geographic Human Genome Project. She also loved golf and spending time with her grandson and the dog. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and a past grand worthy matron.
She is survived by a daughter, Sindy M. Berg of San Tan Valley, and a grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Norman R. and Wilbert Freeman; and two sisters, Doris Hambright and Marjorie Freeman.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
