Margaret "Begay" Padilla Valdez

FLORENCE - Margaret "Begay" Padilla Valdez, 84, died at home in Florence on Nov. 20, 2018.

Mrs. Valdez was born on March 3, 1934, to Jose Padilla and Elvira Segovia in Florence. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

She was an avid left-handed softball pitcher and worked at the Pinal County Sheriff's Office before retiring in 1996. She served in Martha's Ministry at Assumption Catholic Church and was a frequent visitor to Algodones, Sonora, Mexico.

Survivors include a daughter and son, Deborah Mobley of Florence and Joseph Andrew Valdez of Coolidge; a brother, Frank G. Padilla of Mount Crawford, Virginia; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; a son, Mark Valdez; a brother, Joe S. Padilla; and two sisters, Gloria Tucker and Theresa Ramsey.

Memorial Mass celebrated at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, at Assumption Catholic Church. Inurnment at 11:30 in Florence Cemetery.
