CASA GRANDE - Margaret Marie Boykin, 70, died on Jan. 10, 2020, at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center.
Ms. Boykin was born on March 9, 1949, to Herman and Rosie Lee Boykin in Bragg City, Missouri, the seventh of eight children. In 1958 after her mother's death, her family moved to Eloy. She grew up and attended school in Eloy and was a 1967 Santa Cruz Valley Union High School graduate. In 1991 she moved to Atlanta. She loved to cook and it was her passion, so at age 43 she decided to enroll in culinary school and received an associate degree in culinary arts.
Another great achievement was writing and getting a book entitled "Call This Baby Margaret Marie: My Life, My Love, Words That Heal" published in 2013. The book was a collection of short stories and poems based on her life and growing up in the Eloy area. She was a proud mother and grandmother.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Boykin of Phoenix; a daughter, Bernae Boykin Hitesman of Arizona City; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and her beloved daughter Renita Rochelle Robertson.
