SACATON — Margaret Rhodes Armstrong, 62, of Sacaton died on June 24, 2012, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Sacaton. The funeral there will be at 6 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Armstrong was born on March 29, 1950, in Phoenix and was a daughter of Georgina Peters Rhodes and Dallas Rhodes Sr. She was a school board member in Sacaton and also worked as an educational assistant at Blackwater Community School, Gila Crossing School and Sacaton schools. She worked for U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, social services and the Gila River Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program as well as Gila River Casinos.
Survivors include a daughter, Shawn Tsinhnahijinnie of Phoenix; a son, Damon Armstrong of Sacaton; four brothers, Darryl, Robert, Robin and Dwight Rhodes, all of Sacaton; five sisters, Cornelia Eschief of Blackwater, Georgene Jackson of Gila Crossing, Cecelia Henry and Jo Ellen Loutzenheiser of Casa Grande and Marjorie Lewis of Goodyear Village; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett; two brothers, Cecil and Dallas Rhodes Jr.; and two sisters, Della Walker and Wendelyn Sanchez.
