Maria Cruz Apodaca, 72, of Casa Grande died on Nov. 29, 2012, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 10. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 by the Rev. Felix Rodriguez. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Apodaca was born on May 3, 1940, in Del Rio, Texas, and was a daughter of Maximo and Socorro Torres. She worked as an answering service operator. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, watch sports, especially tennis and baseball, and was a Diamondbacks fan. She loved to listen to music and dance.
She was a eucharistic minister and sponsor for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults at St. Anthony's Church and helped with the Cursillo Movement. She loved to cook and made great tortillas, tacos and rice. She was well-liked.
Survivors include three sons, Manuel Apodaca of Arizona City, Daniel and Arturo Apodaca of Casa Grande; three daughters, Elizabeth, Kathrine and Victoria Apodaca, all of Casa Grande; four sisters, Margarita Perez of Casa Grande, Concepcion Alejandro of Tempe, Paulina Rocha of San Jose, Calif., and Josie Florez of Santa Clara, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel G. Apodaca Sr.; a brother, Rodolfo Torrez; and a sister, Lily Rodriguez.
