Marjorie Esther Peters Johnson, 78, died in Gilbert on Nov. 21, 2017.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Feb. 21, 1939, in Sacaton and was a daughter of Alex and Matilda Peters. She later had a stepfather, A.P. Luna. She was a public health nurse in Sacaton for 30 years, working in various nursing homes. She also worked at Phoenix Indian Medical Center and other nursing centers. She enjoyed watching TV, listening to chicken scratch music and sitting outside, enjoying the view.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and Mervin Johnson; four siblings, Alex Peters Jr., Vera Fernando, Robert Luna and Roberta Manuel; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin D. Johnson.
Wake beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the District 2 Multipurpose Building in Sacaton Flats. Funeral at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Sacaton Flats Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Loretta Blackwater officiating. Burial in Sacaton Flats Presbyterian Cemetery.
