ARIZONA CITY - Marvin D. Craun, 79, of Arizona City died on March 22, 2015, with his family by his side.
Mr. Craun was born on Dec. 17, 1935, in Waterloo, Iowa, and was a son of Clifford and Iola Craun. He proudly served in the Marine Corps and later was self-employed in the construction business before working for several years at John Deere. He later was a rural mail carrier before retiring. He also farmed for most of his life.
He married Ruby Sell on April 28, 1956. He enjoyed fishing and "perfecting" all of his tinkering projects. He especially enjoyed all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years; four sons and daughters, Mitch Craun of Ankeny, Iowa, Rhea Wittenburg of Arizona City, Marc Craun of Phoenix and Rona Craun of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Betty Duhrkopf of Sumner, Iowa, and Janice Wilson of Fairbanks, Iowa; four brothers, Larry and Gene Craun of Sumner, Dale Craun of Ozawkie, Kansas, and Dean Craun of Arizona City; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held later, officiated by the Rev. Thom Stephens of Central Lutheran Church in Arizona City.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
