Mary Anne Gomez

SACATON - Mary Anne Gomez, 82, of Sacaton died on April 24, 2014, at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the District 3 Service Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Mission in Santan. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Gomez was born on May 2, 1931, in Sacaton and was a daughter of Clement D. Vavages and Carlota Ramon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed word puzzles, listening to ’50s and chicken scratch music and reading the newspaper. She also enjoyed her friends and family and had a special bond with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucinda Rhodes of Sacaton, Marylou Mendoza and Carmelita Antone of Blackwater; a brother, Valerian Vavages of Sweetwater; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, and a brother, Patrick Burnette.
