Mary Beatrice Echeverria, 84, a longtime Casa Grande resident, died on March 4, 2010 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 by the Rev. Kevin Clinch. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Echeverria was born on July 28, 1925 in Flagstaff and was a daughter of Cruz and Tomasa Eraso. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix and played on its first tennis team. She was a homemaker and loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her friends. She also loved her Basque heritage — she came from one of the first sheep-raising families in Arizona in the early 1900s, and her faith — she was a devout Catholic. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress.
She loved playing cards. She was a founding member of the hospital auxiliary in Casa Grande. She loved Hershey’s chocolate, English muffins and her morning coffee.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa “Tesa” Echeverria Machelor of Casa Grande; a son, Thomas Echeverria of Casa Grande; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mikel; three sons, Mikel, Mark and Christopher Echeverria; and a sister, Lillian Eraso.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony’s building fund, Tradition of Faith.
