Mary Louise Arp, 97, of Casa Grande, passed away on May 4, 2023.
She was born in Holtville, California to Charles and Bertha Layton. She was a very young bride when she married Harold Arp in 1940. A farming opportunity came up and the couple moved their family to Arizona in 1952. Harold often joked Mary never worked a day in her life, but many can remember finding her behind the desk of the headquarters for C & V Growers or in their cotton gin for many years.
Mary had a passion for bowling and sponsored a team for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending many of those years bowling with her daughters. She was also a frequent guest of the casino on bingo nights and held Sunday evening card games with her family. She was a gentle, loving, funny lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Dodge and Judy Fleming of Casa Grande, grandchildren Lester Jones, Lairda Smith, Beau Fleming, Mary Fleming, Jonny Bochat and Michelle Clapp, 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and caretaker Andrea Moya who became a dear friend over the last 5 years. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Richard Arp; daughter, Karen Honeycutt and grandchild, Lee Jones.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:00 am at Mountain View Chapel and Cemetery, 15506 W. Skyway Ave. Casa Grande, AZ 85193. Arrangements by J. Warren Funeral Services.
